On Sunday (Sept. 20) afternoon, IDF (Zahal) forces hit two Palestinian terrorists who were trying to plant explosives on the security fence in southern Gaza. The IDF (Zahal) forces that carried out the operational activity in the area fired two warning shots which were unanswered. As a response, mortar shells were fired from tanks. According to local reports the two men were killed.

The two Palestinian men were later identified as Abed Hafiz al-Silawi, of the Popular Resistance Committee, and Mahmoud Natzir, of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The two were recently involved in planting explosives near the security fence, and firing mortar shells and rockets at Israel. Among other things, they fired three mortar shells towards Israel on August 24, where an IDF (Zahal) soldier was lightly wounded from the shrapnel.

During the holiday there were several incidents in the Judea and Samaria region, the area was temporarily closed during the last few days (the block was removed on Sunday). In the morning, IDF (Zahal) forces identified a 30cm long knife in a Palestinian vehicle during a routine security check near Deir Sharaf, northwest of Nablus. The Palestinian was transferred to the Israel Police for further questioning. In another incident, three Molotov bombs (gasoline bomb) were thrown at an Israeli vehicle near Azzun, east of Qalqilya. There were no casualties, but damage was caused to the vehicle. During the afternoon, a stone-throwing incident was reported at an Israeli vehicle near Auja, north of Jericho.
