On Tuesday night (Jan. 27), the IAF targeted Hamas arms smuggling tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor in the southern Gaza Strip. This operation was carried out in response to the terror attack against IDF (Zahal) forces patrolling on the Israeli side of the security fence in the area of Kissufim on Tuesday morning (Jan. 27), in which a Warrant Officer was killed and three other soldiers were wounded, one of them severely, when a roadside explosive device was detonated against them. The IAF identified direct hits of the targets and all the aircraft returned safely to their bases.

On Tuesday (Jan. 27), the IAF, utilizing information provided by the ISA, struck and identified hitting the terror operative who was responsible for the attack in Kissufim, who was then in Khan Younes.

The IDF (Zahal) sees the Hamas terror organization as fully responsible for keeping the peace in Israel’s southern cities and towns, and will respond harshly to any attempt to disrupt it.
