In the framework of military operations against the terrorist infrastructure, IDF forces operated overnight (06 October 2002) in the Amal neighborhood of the city of Khan-Yunis, a stronghold of the Hamas organization.
A bag containing several mortar bombs and a pipe bomb was found during a search. These devices were detonated by army engineers in a controlled explosion. In addition, a terrorist operative carrying an improvised bomb concealed beneath his coat was arrested and taken in for questioning.
During the operation, several explosive devices were detonated against the soldiers and shots were fired at them. The soldiers returned the fire and our forces suffered no casualties.
The IDF forces left the city of Khan-Yunis after completing the operation.
