Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Benny Gantz met on Monday (March 19) with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Military General Martin E. Dempsey. The joint work meeting was part of Lt. Gen. Gantz’s first official visit to the United States.

The meeting dealt with mutual security issues and Lt. Gen. Gantz presented Gen Dempsey with an updated situational assessment of security challenges in the Middle East.

The two first met in January, when Gen. Dempsey visited Israel.

On his Facebook page, Gen. Dempsey said he was happy that he had the opportunity to talk with Lt. Gen. Gantz about important matters facing the U.S. and Israel.

“I’m glad we had the opportunity to discuss issues of importance to our two countries,” Gen. Dempsey wrote. “Regular and candid dialogue is critical as we face common threats and challenges.”
