An IDF (Zahal) force identified a terrorist standing near the Gaza Strip security fence on Tuesday (Apr. 5). The terrorist did not heed or respond to the IDF (Zahal)’s calls and warnings and continued approaching the fence, as a result of which an IDF (Zahal) tank shot toward him. A direct hit was confirmed.

The month of March saw a significant increase in the number of terrorist attacks in comparison to recent months (according to a report by the Israel Security Agency). There were 128 attacks in March, compared to 61 in February and 83 in January. Terrorist organizations launched 38 rockets and 87 mortar shells toward Israel altogether.

Terrorists in he Gaza Strip take advantage of areas surrounding the security fence regularly. Terrorists approach the fence in the guise of innocently wondering by while they attempt to plant explosives there, plan attacks and kidnappings of IDF (Zahal) soldiers and ultimately endanger citizens of the State of Israel and security forces in the area. The IDF (Zahal) sees the Hamas terrorist organization as solely responsible for activities and events in the Gaza Strip and for keeping the area calm.
