The IDF (Zahal) General Staff Forum will mark Holocaust Remembrance Day on Sunday (May 1) with a special seminar at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem.
The special commemoration seminar at Yad Vashem has become an IDF (Zahal) tradition in recent years.
2011 marks the 70th anniversary since the murder of European Jews began.
Throughout the day, General Staff Forum members will hear lectures from experts on the Holocaust and hold discussions. They will also tour the Yad Vashem archives and see rare documents that detail the events of the Holocaust. Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Gantz will lay a wreath at the monument in the Family Square in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
The chief of staff will also visit two Holocaust survivors, part of a wider project in which IDF (Zahal) soldiers will visit 17,000 Holocaust survivors for Holocaust Remembrance Day.
