The IDF (Zahal) regrets harm to uninvolved civilians, but emphasizes that the Hamas terrorist organization chooses to operate from within the heart of the civilian population, using civilians as human shields.
Earlier on Tuesday, IDF (Zahal) forces identified a group of terrorists preparing to launch an anti-tank missile toward IDF (Zahal) soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip. IDF (Zahal) forces shot toward the group and a direct hit was confirmed.
Over the past day the Israeli Air Force carried out widespread operations in the Gaza Strip, a response to Hamas’ continued terror activities. In one operation, IAF aircraft struck two smuggling tunnels, two weapons storage and weapons development facilities as well as two additional terror centers in the Gaza Strip. Direct hits were confirmed and all aircraft returned to their bases safely.
In another IAF operation, a terror tunnel was targeted as were Hamas terrorist operatives in the northern Gaza Strip. Terror tunnels are often used for infiltration into Israeli territory and for carrying out attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF (Zahal) soldiers.
