Every year, IDF (Zahal) soldiers contribute 72,000 units of blood – 25 percent of all blood donated to Israel’s blood bank.

The Medical Corps is continuing to raise awareness amongst IDF (Zahal) soldiers about the importance of donating blood.

Every soldier who meets the criteria set by the Health Ministry can contribute once every six months.

According to a General Staff order, every unit in the IDF (Zahal) must hold a blood donation day twice a year, depending on the number of potential donors on base.

Blood donated by IDF (Zahal) soldiers ends up being used both in soldiers and in members of the general public.
