“We will not allow this unbearable reality to continue plaguing the lives of civilians in southern Israel. No country in the world would allow this and we will continue operating against every terror body active in the Gaza Strip,” said IDF (Zahal) Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Yoav Polly Mordechai in a radio interview.

Brig. Gen. Mordechai mentioned that, “Escalation in the south ensues. Air Defense soldiers operating the Iron Dome anti-missile system has successfully intercepted rockets directed at highly populated regions. We have targeted terror operatives responsible for rocket launchings with approximately 20 killed. The IAF along with exact intelligence reports has been successful in directly targeting these terrorists as they prepare to launch rockets.”

IDF (Zahal) Spokesperson ruled that “the Hamas terror organization is responsible for everything taking place in the Gaza Strip, as it continues enabling rocket fire directed at Israeli civilians.” He said, “We will continue operating to thwart attacks, as Gaza terrorists continue executing terror attacks against Israel.”
So far, according to Maj. Gen. Mordechai, the IDF (Zahal) held nearly 30 aerial strikes targeting terror sites such as weapons storage facilities, rocket launching sites, weapon manufacturing facilities, training bases, posts and tunnels used for terror activity in the Gaza Strip. Many of these strikes thwarted attacks directed at Israeli population.

He continued to discuss the large -scale activity in Gaza, “over 12 Islamic Jihad terror operatives responsible for the rocket fire and participating in the manufacturing of rockets were targeted. We continue operating surgically with carefully planned and executed precise attacks against terror operatives involved in rocket launching.”

Brig. Gen. Mordechai stressed that “the home front is strong along with the Air Defense, enabling security forces to continue attacking and operating against terror operatives. The Iron Dome anti-missile defense system has been extremely successful in intercepting every rocket directed at highly populated region.”

Over the weekend, Brig. Gen. Mordechai addressed recent events and accused the Hamas terror organization of the recent attacks and violent escalation in the Gaza Strip today, Saturday (March 10), due to the fact that Hamas currently holds authority in Gaza and enables various terror organizations to continue firing rockets at Israeli civilian communities. Over all, approximately 130 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip at Israel during the last 24 hours.

Brig Gen. Mordechai estimated that the long range and mid-range rockets were launched by Islamic Jihad terrorists, while the short range rockets were launched by terrorists of the Popular Resistance Committee. He praised the successful interception of the anti-missile Iron dome batteries and the Air Defense soldiers operating them.

“We have attacked approximately ten terrorist squads launching rockets with approximately a dozen killed – all without any exceptions, were terrorists,” said Brig. Gen. Mordechai. He also mentioned that among those targeted were: Ahmen Hajaj – an Islamic Jihad operative and senior rocket launching operative, Farek Fahed – an Islamic Jihad senior operative involved in the attacks, Haze, Karaki – a terror operative recently involved in attacks. Brig. Gen. Mordechai stressed that “all the attacks were carefully planned and executed, and not civilians were killed.”

“We hold Hamas responsible for the recent incidents since the terror organization currently has jurisdiction in the area. We will continue responding to any attack against Israel,” said IDF (Zahal) Spokesperson, who added that “the Hamas movement, although is not the one performing the launchings, is not doing anything to prevent it either – We hold them responsible and will continue defending and attack as necessary.”
