Brig. Gen. Mordechai views vandalism as grave incident, proposes joint investigation with Palestinian Authority

Following reports of fire set in the mosque of the village of Kfar Beit Fajar in Hebron, Head of the Israeli Civil Administration, Brig. Gen. Yoel Mordechai spoke on Monday (Oct. 4) with officials from the Palestinian Authority, clarifying that, “the IDF (Zahal) and security officials are working in order to find those responsible, and we view this as a grave and serious incident.” Brig. Gen. Mordechai further offered the P.A. to open a joint investigation into the incident.
According to IDF (Zahal) Army Radio, in addition to graffiti on the building, 15 books of the Koran, walls and rugs were burned in the fire in the Prophets Mosque in Kfar Beit Fajar. Village residents had extinguished the fire before security forces arrived.
