An Iron Dome anti-rocket battery will be operationally deployed in central Israel in the coming days, as part of a test of the system’s capabilities.

The battery is being deployed in the Tel Aviv region in order to test the suitability of the site and assess terrain conditions.

As part of training, Iron Dome batteries are deployed to different parts of Israel, in order to ensure flexibility during times of emergency.

According to the Aerial Defense Network, the deployment of the battery in central Israel is part of a larger test being performed on the Iron Dome system.

Later, an Iron Dome battery will be deployed in northern Israel as part of the same test of the readiness of the Aerial Defense Network.

The Iron Dome system intercepted its first rocket in April. Batteries have been deployed in the past in Ashkelon, Ashdod and Be’er Sheva.
