More than 20,000 soon-to-be IDF (Zahal) soldiers attended a pre-draft party in Tel Aviv on Tuesday (July 5).
The event, at which numerous artists performed, was organized by the Soldiers’ Welfare Association, the Yoter Club and the IDF (Zahal).
Attendees had the opportunity to become better acquainted with the IDF (Zahal) as well as the recruitment and induction processes by stopping at a number of information stands.
“Last year, 80 percent of enlistees requested to serve as combat soldiers,” said Maj. Gen. Orna Barbivai, the head of the Human Resources Directorate. “This is a badge of honor for Israeli youth.”
Avigdor Kahalani, chairman of the Soldiers’ Welfare Association, said: “These new IDF (Zahal) recruits are going to be those will protect us over the next three years. So we chose to salute them before the draft with a huge show produced especially for them.”
