Concluding operation of the IDF (Zahal) medical team sent to Bulgaria last night, the aircraft will soon land in Israel with bodies of the civilians killed in the terror attack

A short while ago, the third IAF aircraft of the IDF (Zahal) delegation deployed to Bulgaria last night, took off towards Israel, bearing coffins with the victims of yesterday’s attack. The aircraft will land at Ben Gurion Airport, where an official ceremony will take place as the coffins are removed from the plane.
This is the final IAF aircraft of the IDF (Zahal) medical delegation deployed by the IDF (Zahal) Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen.Benny Gantz, in order to bring the casualties of the terror attack in Bulgaria back to Israel.
An additional IAF aircraft departed a few hours ago from Bulgaria carrying on board three severely wounded victims following yesterdays’ terror attack. They are accompanied by Medical Corps personnel led by Deputy Surgeon General, Colonel, and M.D. Dudu Dagan.
The aircraft departed following a medical assessment of those injured allowing them to fly back home.
The aircraft is expected to land this evening, in Israel, and the injured will be transferred for further medical treatment in various hospitals across Israel.
Earlier today, IAF aircraft carrying 33 civilians that were injured in the terror attack in Burgas landed in Israel a short while ago. The flight was arranged by the IDF (Zahal) medical team that was sent to Bulgaria last night.
Chief Medical Corps Officer, Brig. Gen. Dr. Itzik Kreiss, addressed the condition of the wounded civilians, today (Thursday, July 19) and said, “Their condition is better than we thought, most of them are either moderately or lightly injured.”
“The Chief of the General Staff’s orders are to immediately bring the wounded, as quickly as possible. We rely on available equipment and manpower provided by the IDF (Zahal) – we took the IDF (Zahal) Airborne Rescue and Evacuation Unit, 669, and the best professionals to make an initial assessments but the situation is complicated,” said Brig. Gen. Kreiss.
As ordered by the Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, an IDF (Zahal) medical team landed this morning in Bulgaria in order to provide medical care and to assist those injured on returning to Israel. The team continues its activity of transferring the severely wounded from the city of Sophia back to Israel, as well as the bodies of the deceased:
A short while ago the Deputy of the Surgeon General Medical Corps, Colonel, M.D. Dudu Dagan left for Sophia in order to evaluate and assess the preparations required for the treatment of the severally wounded still in Bulgaria.
The team is led by a senior IDF (Zahal) officer, and includes doctors specializing in trauma, orthopedics, intensive care, surgery, burns and pediatrics.
The IDF (Zahal) will continuously assist in providing professional medical care to Israeli civilians wherever and whenever needed.
