Maj. Gen. Rothberg becomes new Navy chief

Maj. Gen. Rothberg replaces Maj. Gen. Eliezer Marom, who retired after 38 years of IDF (Zahal) service

On Thursday (October 6), a ceremony was held at the Kirya in Tel Aviv during which Brigadier General Ram Rothberg was officially appointed as the new head of the Israel Navy and was promoted to the rank of Major General.

The event was attended by Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Benny Gantz.

Maj. Gen. Rothberg took the place of Maj. Gen. Eliezer Marom, who led the Navy for the past four years and retired from the IDF (Zahal) after 38 years of service.
