A change of command ceremony was held on Wednesday (July 6) at the Urim base as Col. Doron Mor Yosef became the new head of the Home Front Command’s Southern District, taking the place of Col. Eitan Yitzhak.

“Col. Mor Yosef’s operational background is impressive,” said Maj. Gen. Eyal Eisenberg, head of the Home Front Command. “I wish him success and believe that he will meet all the requirements of this demanding district.”

Col. Yitzhak served for three years as head of the Southern District, including during Operation Cast Lead.

“I dealt with a challenging reality that included rocket fire on an almost regular basis,” Col. Yitzhak said. “The central task was on one hand dealing with the rocket fire and on the other hand preparing other Israeli cities for such a situation, based on the South’s experience. Cooperation with the rest of the Home Front Command, towns, government officials and local authorities helped greatly in accomplishing that task.”

Col. Yitzhak will become the head of the Home Front Command’s Haifa District, which is currently being established.
