Nine Hollywood actors arrived at the Palmachim airbase for a taste of the Israeli Air Force, today Tuesday (May 8).
The celebrities arrived in Israel yesterday with the America’s Voices organization, established to publicize the true Israel by providing such celebrities and media personalities with a firsthand experience of Israel. Touring Israel for over a week, they learn about the country and then convey their experience and influence public opinion worldwide. Other than the IAF airbase, the actors will also visit an Israeli Navy base and an infantry base.
Visiting Israel for the first time ever, the American celebrities were interested in Israel’s defense policies and asked questions about challenges the IDF (Zahal) is facing. “This is my first visit to Israel and I already love it here,” said Anna Lynne McCord star of the hit series, 90210. “I’m used to hearing about Israel in American news from only one point of view, and it’s very interesting to be here and see what’s really happening,” she said.
“I’m very happy to be here and it’s important to me personally. I want to learn as much as possible about the problems you live with and experience as much of Israel as possible,” added McCord. A pilot at the airbase, Cpt. Amit, thanked the actress for her visit and said that “as pilots, it’s important to us that you are here and that you want to see Israel in a new light and support us, even though this is not an easy task while living abroad, and we greatly appreciate it.”
McCord continued discuss her visit saying, “I’m exposed to a country where a long history merges with an advanced and innovative nation, that’s not something you see every day.” The Vampire Diaries star, Zach Roerig added that “I didn’t know much about the Israeli Air Force and the IDF (Zahal) in general and that’s why the visit here is so significant for me since I was to see and understand for myself what this place is about, and not just based on the media.”
After seeing Cobra helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and more, and meeting IDF (Zahal) soldiers serving at the base, the stars went on to continue their journey and discover the State of Israel.
