With the support of the Civil Administration of the IDF (Zahal)’s Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories (COGAT), six Palestinian doctors attended the International Conference on Medical Rehabilitation held at Israeli Tel Hashomer Hospital. Held May 6 through 9 the event was organized by a Norwegian organization and hosted by Tel Hashomer Hospital in Ramat Gan.

Specialists from the United States, China, Norway, and Sweden attended the conference, as did six Palestinian doctors who were sent by the Civil Administration. Five of these doctors came from a hospital in Beit Jala, near Bethlehem, while one came from Al-Wafa Hospital in Gaza.

The conference featured many lectures on the different rehabilitation processes of patients with injuries caused by accidents or dangerous pregnancies. It also included visits to rehabilitation centers in Jaffa and Tiberias.

“We want Palestinian doctors to attend international conferences, so that they can share their skills with international doctors and update their medical talents. We encourage those meetings, as we support Palestinian doctors and seek to help them to improve their care of injured patients,” said Mrs. Dalia Bassa, the Medical Coordinator of the Civil Administration.

With the support of the Civil Administration, more than 500 Palestinian doctors have attended over 20 medical conferences so far this year. Many of these conferences took place abroad, including a conference on cancer in Moscow and a conference for dermatologists in Portugal and Germany.
