According to a report published by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in August 2011, an additional improvement in the financial state of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip was recorded between April and June.

Palestinian Authority unemployment rates were significantly reduced during the second quarter of 2011, reaching 18.7 percent.

The unemployment rate at the Gaza Strip is the lowest it has been in the past ten years at 25.6 percent. Similar to last year, a 15.4 percent unemployment rate was recorded in Judea and Samaria.

Involvement in workforce at the PA has been growing to its highest rates in years.

A two percent increase in Judea and Samaria brings the workforce involvement rate to 45.3 percent and the highest it has been in the past two years. In the Gaza Strip, 38.1 percent participate in the workforce, the highest rate since the beginning of 2009.

During the second quarter of 2011, 42,800 new employees joined the workforce in the Palestinian Authority.

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics report indicates that unemployment has been decreasing and participation in the workforce has been growing. This progress is possible due to an increase in available employment positions and an overall improvement in the Palestinian economy.
