Presient Peres and Lt. Gen. Gantz celebrate Passover in the field
President Peres viewed a life-fire drill, wished the soldiers a happy Passover and said, “Israeli civilians can enjoy a peaceful holiday with the security you grant them”

Israeli President, Mr. Shimon Peres, and Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz visited the 7th Armored Brigade in honor of the Jewish holiday of Passover, at a fire zone in northern Israel after viewing the soldiers in action in a life-fire training exercise.
At the beginning of the exercise the force’s commander, Deputy Battalion Commander Maj. Raz Dahan welcomed the President over the two-way radio: “President Peres, I would like to thank you for your visit and wish you a happy Passover.” President Peres responded over the radio and told the soldiers that “the Israeli civilians will be able to enjoy a quiet and peaceful holiday thanks to the security you grant them.”
During the live-fire drill, Lt. Gen. Gantz and GOC Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Yair Golan briefed Mr. Peres on current military situations. He then asked to meet with the 7th Armored Brigade’s Reconnaissance Battalion combat soldiers, who drove up with the tanks to the President’s viewing post. President Peres toured among the tanks, shook hands with the combat soldiers and said “the IDF (Zahal) and its soldiers always know how to find the advantage, the solution and the courage. This is a great opportunity to wish all IDF (Zahal) soldiers and commanders as well as their families and friends a happy Passover. In two days the Israeli nation and will celebrate the Passover holiday with a sense of security knowing everything is in the reliable hands of the IDF (Zahal).”
At the end of the drill the Chief of Staff gave a military briefing, emphasizing that “the IDF (Zahal) is prepared and operating at all Israeli fronts, in the sea, in the air, on land and with intelligence, ready to defend the State of Israel in the face of every challenge.”
President Peres thanked Lt. Gen. Gantz for the visit and said, “We have a good general staff and an excellent Chief of the General Staff, who receives the trust and appreciation of the entire nation.”
