IDF soldiers prevented an attempted terrorist attack on the perimeter fence, east of El Bureij in the Gaza Strip during the night (early morning of 21 May, 2001).
In the early morning, an IDF force identified two suspected Palestinians setting an explosive charge, near the perimeter fence in an area notorious for placing explosive charges. IDF soldiers opened fire upon the two terrorists and identified a hit.
In searches held in the area this morning, IDF Engineers Corps soldiers and Border Police soldiers identified an extremely powerful bomb and successfully disarmed it.
It must be emphasized that there have been dozens of bombs set in this aforementioned section in the past months, and two weeks ago two Romanian civilians were killed as a bomb exploded while they worked near the border fence.
The vigilance of the IDF soldiers prevented the harming of citizens and IDF soldiers who travel in the area.
