On Sunday (February 26), Route 12 along the Israel-Egypt border was reopened to traffic.
The road was closed following the coordinated terrorist attacks in August on the road in which eight Israelis were killed.
Since then, the IDF (Zahal) has been working intensively to make conditions on the road as secure as possible. Among other things, construction of the border fence was accelerated, troops were reinforced, means of intelligence gathering were added, and other protective measures were put in place to deal with the existing threat of terrorist activities in the area.
The portion of the road between the Sayarim Junction and the Netafim checkpoint is open to traffic from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The IDF (Zahal) does all it can to maintain the routine lives of Israeli civilians while ensuring their safety.
