The Judea and Samaria Area

Seven IDF soldiers were lightly wounded during the day, six from stones thrown at them and one from a ricochet, in the course of the severe disturbances which occurred throughout the Judea and Samaria area. Of the seven soldiers, three received medical treatment at the site and four were taken to a hospital for continued treatment. Fire was opened at IDF soldiers of the Central Command in these locations:

The refugee camp of Kalandia, at the Ayosh Junction near Ramallah, in Rojib and Kfar Kallil near Nablus, in the Jewish settlement of Migdal Oz in Gush Etzion, in Givaat Antenna near Kalkilya and in the Jewish settlement in Hebron. IDF soldiers returned accurate fire in those instances when the source of fire was positively identified.

Also throughout the day were recorded numerous incidents of tire burning, fire bombs and stone throwing throughout the Judea and Samaria area.

The IDF has no interest to escalate the situation, but will act severely against anyone attempting to attack soldiers and the residents of Judea and Samaria. The IDF is calls on the Palestinian Authority to take all necessary measures in order to prevent any outbreak of violence.

The Gaza Strip

As of the morning hours, violent disturbances broke out at several sites against Israeli Civilians and IDF soldiers. An IDF officer and a Border Policemen were lightly injured as a result of stones thrown at them in the southern section of the Gaza Strip.

The two received medical treatment at the site.

In the course of the disturbances, Palestinians threw firebombs, empty bottles, iron bars and stone blocks towards IDF soldiers, and burned tires.

IDF forces dispersed some of the crowds using means for dispersing demonstrations. Palestinians opened live fire at several points: Towards two IDF outposts near Rafiah, at the Gush Katif junction and at Netzarim Junction, where the exchanges of fire were especially massive and waves of rioteers attempted to storm the IDF outpost.
