Lt. Gen. Blattman toured the Palmachim Airbase, seeing IDF (Zahal)’s high-tech UAVs, aircraft, the Arrow missile and more

The Chief of the Swiss Armed Froces, Lt. Gen. André Blattman, visited the IAF Palmachim Airbase this morning (November 29), as part of his first visit in Israel. He has also met with Defense Minister, Ehud Barak and visited Yav Vashem.
At the IAF base, Lt. Gen. Blattman toured the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Squadron, learning about the UAV’s. Officers at the aribase, showed Lt. Gen. Blattman the ‘Shoval’ aircraft and a take off, who was interested in the distances the aircraft can cover and in intelligence gathering using the various systems.
Lt. Gen. Blattman also met with the unit operating the Arrow anti-ballistic missile system. Brig. Gen. Doron Gavish, Air Defense Network Commander, welcomed the Swiss Chief of Staff and elaborated on recent changes in the Network. “Our environment is constantly changing, which affects how we react,” said Brig. Gen. Gavish. “We understand that technology is becoming a chief component in battle.”
After examining the operation of the Iron Dome anti- missile system, and the use of the Arrow missile, Lt. Gen. Blattman was taken to the Operations Room, who then signed the visitors’ book.
