Soldiers of the IDF (Zahal) crossings units and the military police arrested today, Wednesday (April 11), a Palestinian armed with seven explosives at the Beka’ot crossing in the Jordan River Valley. The terrorist seemed suspicious and upon searching him the soldiers discovered three knives and bullets as well as the explosives. The terrorist was taken for further investigation by security forces.

Approximately three months ago two attacks were thwarted at the Beka’ot crossing. A terrorist armed with an explosive was targeted at the crossing after he approached the soldiers stationed there, clearly armed and threateningly yelling “Allah Akbar”. When the terrorist ignored the soldiers’ calling him to stop, they opened fire according to the internationally accepted laws of engagement.

That same month another incident was reported at the crossing, where IDF (Zahal) soldiers opened fire at a suspect who attempted to execute a terrorist attack at the crossing in the northern Jordan River Valley. After approaching the fence, holding a broken bottle, the soldiers fired at him. The Palestinian was severely injured and died of his injuries despite receiving immediate medical care on the site.

Over the last year, dozens of deadly terror attacks were thwarted at the Beka’ot crossing.
