As part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against terror, Thursday’s evening (August 22, 2002) IDF forces demolished the Tulkarem house of Mohand Sarim, a senior Hamas operative in the West Bank. Sarim was one of the masterminds behind the Park Hotel suicide bombing in Netanya. In that attack, which took place during a Passover Seder (ceremonial dinner) on 27 March 2002, 29 Israelis -most of them elderly- were killed, and at least 64 were wounded.
Such house demolitions send a direct message to potential suicide bombers and their accomplices: Terrorism carries a price that will be paid, in one way or another, by those associated with their activities. These actions are taken in order to prevent further terrorist attacks against the citizens of Israel.
