In response to the Qassam rockets fired yesterday at Sderot (southern Israel) causing light injuries to a child and an additional four people to suffer from shock, the IDF operated overnight (May 9, 2003) in the city of Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip.

IDF forces demolished the house of Hussam Zawidi, a senior Hamas terrorist who belonged to a cell responsible for firing Qassam rockets. The house was demolished after IDF forces carried out searches to ensure the house was devoid of residents. Following the operation, IDF forces exited the city.

The demolition of terrorists’ houses sends a message to terrorists and their accomplices that their actions have a price to be paid by all involved in hostile terrorist activity.

The IDF will continue to use all available legal means to strike at terrorists, their dispatchers, and all those who assist them.
