Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gantz spoke at a memorial ceremony and stressed that “in the face of threats posed against us we stand prepared along our country’s borders”

An annual memorial ceremony for fallen Golani Infantry Brigade soldiers was held today, Wednesday (August 22). The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, Golani Brigade commander, Col. Yaniv Asor, formers commanders and bereaved families attended the ceremony.
Since the establishment of the State of Israel, over the past 64 years, the Golani Brigade lost 1,433 soldiers during intensive operations to defend the country and its people.
Lt. Gen. Gantz spoke at the ceremony and said, “We have yet to reach a state of calm. These days, the State of Israel and its residents are being threatened. These threats indicate a mistaken evaluation of our strength and capabilities. Those who believe they can eradicate Israel and act on these beliefs will face the brunt of the IDF (Zahal) power. In light of these threats, we stand prepared along our country’s borders, an army that counts among its ranks the best and most courageous soldiers and commanders in the world.”
Commander of the Golani Brigade, Col. Asor, said at the ceremony that “we take pride in having operated across the country, between our people and those who want to harm us. To win. To ensure the security of the State of Israel.”
