Last week, Golan Brigade Commander Colonel Eshkol Shukron explained the changes that were recently made to the barrier on Israel’s border with Syria in the Golan Heights.
In order to protect Israel’s sovreignty, prevent future border infiltrations and provide security to Israel’s northern resdients, the IDF (Zahal) has installed an improved fence on the Israel-Syria border.
The project was conducted in the wake of the “Nakba Day” and “Naksa Day” incidents that occurred on the Israel-Syria border earlier this year.
On “Nakba Day” in May, a number of Palestinians from Syria illegally crossed into Israel in the Golan Heights.
On “Naksa Day” in June, the IDF (Zahal) was able to prevent similar infiltrations from occurring.
