This morning (October 23rd), an IDF (Zahal) officer was moderately wounded while on a routine patrol along the security fence in the central Gaza Strip. The officer received first aid treatment on scene and was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital for further medical care.

As of this afternoon, the soldier is now in critical condition.

Terror organizations continue their relentless attempts to harm Israeli civilians and IDF (Zahal) soldiers by laying explosive devices in the area adjacent to the security fence and attempting to orchestrate terror attacks. Just a week ago, an explosive device was detonated against IDF (Zahal) soldiers patrolling along the same area of the security fence in the central Gaza Strip, damaging a military vehicle.

The IDF (Zahal) will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel. The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.
