Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Knesset on January 20, 2014. Harper will lead an entourage of approximately 200 politicians, businessmen and journalists.
Addressing the planned visit, Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein said ”I am happy and proud to host the prime minister of Canada, a courageous and true friend of Israel, at the Knesset. Canada`s governmental and public support for the State of Israel (has always been) sympathetic and uncompromising.”
”I have no doubt that the important visit will be a celebration of brotherhood for the two countries, and I believe it will strengthen the relations between them,” Edelstein said.
Harper`s speech will be the second delivered at the plenum by the head of a large country since the 19th Knesset was sworn. French President Francois Hollande addressed the Knesset on November 18, 2013.
