Last Friday, the head of veterinary services in the Ministry of Agriculture contacted the head of the Food Service in the Ministry of Health and reported that three weeks earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture seized smuggled eggs from the Palestinian Authority, which were stamped with counterfeit “Yossi Beitsim” (Yossi Eggs) stamps.  The investigation raised the suspicion that two supermarkets in Jerusalem have been selling eggs of this description, however the investigation conducted on Friday found that these eggs have not been on sale for the last ten days.   As a rule, the Ministry of Health recommends that the public only consume heat-treated eggs – hard-boiled or deep fried, and not soft-boiled eggs. These recommendations are all posted on the Ministry’s website.
