Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein met with former US President Jimmy Carter in South Africa on Tuesday. The two, who were in South Africa for the memorial service in honor of Nelson Mandela, discussed the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.

Edelstein said he was pleased that despite the obstacles and difficulties, the peace negotiations are continuing. Carter, on his part, said he was praying for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

The former American president also expressed interest in the haredi enlistment bill and the tension it has created within Israeli society.
