”It is a great honor for the Knesset to host the president of France, a country that is among Israel`s closest friends. The French president is a brave friend of ours, and I am glad he decided to speak to the people of Israel from the Knesset`s podium,” Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein said ahead of Francois Hollande`s speech at the Israeli parliament on Monday.

”I believe (Hollande`s) visit will be significant for both countries,” Speaker Edelstein added.

The French leader is expected to arrive at the Knesset at 17:30 pm along with his partner and a large delegation of French ministers, MPs and businessmen. Some 70 news crews will be covering Hollande`s visit to the parliament building.

An official ceremony will be held at Chagall Hall in honor of the French leader, who will sign the Knesset guestbook, as is customary.

Following the ceremony, Hollande will meet with President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Opposition leader Shelly Yachimovich and Edelstein at the Knesset speaker`s chambers. France`s ambassador to Israel and his Israeli counterpart, will also take part in the meeting.

A special plenum session will begin at 17:45, during which Speaker Edelstein, PM Netanyahu, MK Yachimovich and President Hollande will deliver speeches.
