Following the terror attack in Paris, Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein sent a condolence letter addressed to the Speaker of the French Senate Gerard Larcher and the President of the National Assembly Palais Bourbon.
The letter reads as follows:
”On behalf of my fellow members of Knesset and myself, I wish to express our deep shock regarding the terrorist attack perpetrated by Islamic extremists in Paris yesterday. Who better than Israel can understand and sympathize with your pain and the intolerable price you are forced to pay for defending the values of freedom and democracy.
Murder, especially as an act carried out in the name of God, is a crime so despicable that no words are harsh enough to condemn it.
We stand by you during this difficult time, and would like to convey our condolences for your grief and the loss experienced by the families of the victims, as well as our sincerest wishes for a swift recovery to the wounded.
We have a long journey before us, and I hope that together we will succeed in overcoming the growing menace of Islamist terrorism.”
