MKs Ibrahim Sarsour and Masud Ganaim of the Ra`am-Ta`al-Mada party were removed from the Knesset plenum on Wednesday after they referred to IDF soldiers as murderers during a debate on the Arab riots, the wave of incitement and racism in the country and the military campaign in Gaza.
”I wish to read to you the names of some of the Palestinian victims who have fallen over the past 24 hours,” MK Sarsour said from the podium. After reading the names of Palestinians who had been killed in the Gaza Strip since Operation Protective Edge began, Sarsour said: ”These are the names of some of the victims who have been murdered by the heroes of the Israel Defense Forces.”
Deputy Knesset Speaker Moshe Feiglin (Likud), who ran the plenary sitting, said: ”After you called the IDF soldiers – who are protecting you as well – murderers, you have to step down from the podium.”
Feiglin called Knesset ushers to remove Sarsour from the stand. Sarsour resisted, and the ushers had to force him off.
“I wouldn’t want to speak in front of a fascist Nazi like you anyway,” Sarsour told Feiglin.
MK Ahmad Tibi (Ra`am-Ta`al-Mada) also took the stand and began reading names of Palestinians who had been killed in the IDF`s operation in Gaza. When MK Orit Struck (HaBayit HaYehudi) protested, he shouted, “Shut up while I’m reading names of people you killed with missiles! Are you not ashamed? The IDF is committing war crimes.”
MK Ganaim said: ”You have killed and murdered, and not only in Gaza. You are so proud of your moral army, but you are immoral. You massacred and murdered in Gaza, and you have an army of murderers.”
Feiglin instructed the ushers to remove Gnaim from the plenum as well.
MK Eliezer Stern, who took the stand to speak after Gnaim, said that “calling IDF soldiers murderers is incitement.”
