(Communicated by the IDF Spokesman)
In a joint IDF and ISA activity against the terror infrastructure in the southern Gaza Strip over the past two days, the forces uncovered seven tunnels leading from Egypt into the Gaza Strip. The tunnels were used by the Hamas to smuggling terrorists to and from Egypt and were part of the Hamas’ weapons supply mechanism. The forces also uncovered three planted explosive devices ready for activation against IDF soldiers.
The tunnels and the explosive devices were detonated in a controlled manner by engineering forces. During the operation, the forces arrested a Palestinian suspected of terrorist activity. He was taken for questioning by security forces.
