The Speaker said these things during a special debate dealing with the economic situation of the elderly in Israel.

The General Director of the Taub Institute, Professor Dan Ben David, presented before the committee details on the economic situation of the elderly and said that there was an improvement in the state of the population in terms of income before welfare payments, but the problem is that even after state intervention, half of the elderly are still poor (the highest rate among Western countries). Professor Ben David also said that the amount allocated for the elderly in Israel is among the lowest in the Western world.
