The House Committee elected Knesset Member Tzachi Hanegbi as its own chairman. The last chairman, Knesset Member Yariv Levin, said that he was glad to pass the job along to a veteran and experienced Knesset Member. ”In the years 1992-1996, when I was the chairman of the Finance Committee, I did not need to use neither a microphone nor glasses,” says Hanegbi. ”Now I need both.” Hanegbi thanked Levin for the determined way in which he led the committee.

Knesset Member Isaac Hertzog commented: ”It`s not that the names have not yet been given, we are trying to reach understandings. Hopefully, it can be done today.”

Speaker of the Knesset, Knesset Member, Yoel (Yuli) Edelstein stated: ”I congratulate in advance all of the new Knesset Members on their jobs; the exiting chairman of the House Committee said he was happy that the new chairman is veteran and experienced. I am too glad that a man like that will be by my side. Four years ago, when the exiting chairman started his job he was neither veteran nor experienced, but a new Knesset Member, and yet, he ran this sensitive committee in an admirable way. Part of the secret of success is that chairmen work together with a professional staff with a lot of knowledge. The House Committee is one of the more important ones, yet it only gets on the news when something unpleasant happens. The knowledge, personality and understanding of the chairman are the qualities that allow him to maneuver between the Rules of Procedure and the committee being the most political one in the Knesset. ”
