The Knesset will host all twelve people who will be lighting the torches at the official ceremony on Mount Herzl. The ceremony will close the Memorial Day events and open the Independence Day celebrations.
Speaker of the Knesset, Yuli Yoel Edelstein will speak at the event, which will take place in the Chagall Hall at the Knesset. Amongst the participants are also Mayor Nir Barkat, District Commander of IDF in Jerusalem, Colonel Chen Livni and District Commander of the Police in Jerusalem, Major General Yossi Friyanty.
The list of torch-lighters who were chosen for the 65th Independence Day expresses the subject of ”National legacy and preserving the national cultural assets for generations to come.”
