Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spoke this afternoon, with US President George W. Bush, who had telephoned in order to congratulate him on his victory in yesterday’s elections for the 17th Knesset. 

The Acting Prime Minister thanked the US President and said that he would endeavor to quickly establish a broad coalition. 

Acting Prime Minister Olmert said that he was interested in continuing the same policy begun by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and in making progress in the diplomatic arena. 

US President Bush said – inter alia – that he admired Prime Minister Sharon’s vision and added that the latter had taken a brave and major step. 

The US President invited Acting Prime Minister Olmert to visit the US immediately after forming a government.
