The Ministry of Health informs the public of the destruction of meat at the “Off Tayibe Ltd.” (Tayibe Chicken Ltd.) butchery in the City of Tayibe.
On 27-May-2014, the Central District Health Bureau, in cooperation with the Central Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture, conducted an inspection of the “Off Tayibe Ltd.” (Tayibe Chicken Ltd.) butchery in the City of Tayibe.
During the inspection, it was found that the butchery sells chickens and other products that were slaughtered on the premises, with no permit, with no veterinary supervision and under poor sanitary conditions.
Additionally, poultry products that were beyond their expiry dates and seafood that was not fit for human consumption were found.
By order of the Central District Health Bureau veterinarian, approximately 553 kg of chicken and fish were destroyed.
The processing, storage and marketing of food products without the legally mandated proper conditions may be harmful to public health.
The Ministry of Health will take the further enforcement measures, including legal proceedings, against these food businesses.
