During a ceremony held at the Knesset on Wednesday, the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel granted the ”Itur H`or” to Holocaust survivors in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the State of Israel, as well as to activists and volunteers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to improving the quality of life of Holocaust survivors in Israel.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, former Minister Tzipi Livni, who serves as chairperson of the Foundation`s board, and MK Avi Dichter, who served in this position prior to his election to the Knesset.

Speaker Edelstein lauded the recipients for ”adding a great light to the lives of so many and removing the darkness, each in his own way.”

”It is so heart-warming to see people who experienced the hardships of the Holocaust themselves but became givers rather than remain in the position of takers,” he added. Alongside them there are people here who have dedicated many years of their lives for the benefit of Holocaust survivors.”
