December 2013 was a month of great challenge, but also one of tremendous success. We suffered the loss of two Israelis – one soldier and one civilian –  who were shot by snipers from Lebanon and Gaza in separate incidents. We rescued civilians from a massive snowstorm that blocked roads and left thousands without electricity, helping both Israelis and Palestinians get back on their feet. We responded to rocket attacks from the south and the north, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Gaza and the source of rocket fire from Lebanon. As always, our soldiers continued to train, bearing the harsh conditions of winter as they protected Israel from the field.
