April was a month of celebration and reflection for the IDF (Zahal). From breaking the matzah on base, to remembering the genocide of our people, to mourning our fallen soldiers, and to celebrating 64 years of Israeli independence, the IDF (Zahal) made it count.

Holocaust Remembrance Day
April 19: The IDF (Zahal) honored Holocaust Remembrance Day. Israel was founded to provide a home for the Jewish people. Never again will Israel let a holocaust happen to its people.
International Earth Day
April 22: For International Earth Day, IDF (Zahal) soldiers came together to preserve the environment in which we live. Also, the IDF (Zahal) Headquarter’s shutdown its electrical grid.

April 24: IDF (Zahal) soldiers save the life of 12-day-old Palestinian baby after a Palestinian woman arrives with her baby to an IDF (Zahal) post. The baby was immediately evacuated to a hospital after the soldiers witnessed excessive vomiting.
On the same day, IDF (Zahal) forces uncovered four improvised explosive devices in the bags of two Palestinians just north of Jericho.

Remember first, celebrate after
April 23: The fact that Memorial Day and Independence Day are back-to-back is no coincidence. Israelis are acutely aware that without the sacrifice of thousands of IDF (Zahal) soldiers, there would be no state of Israel. Before freedom can be celebrated, the cost must be recognized.
