Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today closely followed the 12th game in the World Chess Championship between Boris Gelfand and Viswanathan Anand. The game was broadcast on a giant screen in a room adjacent to the Prime Minister’s office where the Prime Minister – an amateur chess player –  watched between meetings and spoke with Natan Sharansky about the moves.

In March 2010, Prime Minister Netanyahu met with Boris Gelfand, who played a match against him and Natan Sharansky; the match ended in a draw.
