Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met this afternoon (Thursday), 22.9.05, with former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who is visiting Israel.
Giuliani told Prime Minister Sharon that the State of Israel needed him:

“There are many things that need to be done and you are the only one who can do them.  You have the background, the experience and the ability to do what is best for Israel.  I have discovered great leadership in you for putting the good of the State of Israel above your personal good.  This is something that the public around the world can appreciate.  There is no doubt that as far as both Israel and the US are concerned you are the leader who can carry out the right things.”

Prime Minister Sharon briefed Giuliani on the implementation of the Disengagement Plan.  The two men also discussed the struggle against violence, immigrant absorption and the diplomatic situation vis-ש-vis the Palestinians.
