A quartet of Harvards strike the Egyptian positions at Umm-Shihan, in preparation for a frontal assault on the Abu Agelia sector by the 10th Regiment. The Harvards are met by heavy, accurate AA fire. The lead plane is shot down and its pilot, Squadron Commander Cpt. Moshe Eshel, is killed. The no. 2 plane, flown by 2nd  Lt. Ofi Matanya, is damaged and executes a crash landing at Tze’elim. The other two planes are also hit by the AA fire but manage to return to base.
