Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the Knesset on Monday as a guest of Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. At the opening of a work meeting between the two, Edelstein expressed hope that the relations between Israel and Albania would be bolstered on the basis of shared interests and values.
”Mr. prime minister, this is your first official visit to Israel, and I hope we will be able to develop the ties between our countries,” Edelstein told his guest. ”Welcome to the Knesset, the beating heart of democracy in Israel. Every minority in Israel – every region and religion – is represented here in the Knesset. It is true that it is not always easy here, but there is no doubt that Israeli democracy is real and strong.”
The Knesset speaker said he hoped the parliamentary relations between Israel and Albania would grow stronger and that the joint work of both parliaments` friendship groups would intensify.
PM Rama thanked Edelstein for the warm welcome and said ”It is a great privilege to be here, and I too hope that the parliamentary cooperation between us will deepen. In Israel, like in Albania, you can be proud that political life is never boring.”
Rama called to strengthen the relations between Israel and Albania in the fields of security, agriculture, tourism and more.
