The Knesset plenum approved on Monday the second and third readings of a law that enables MKs to choose not to accept the extra money allocated to them following the annual salary update.
MKs who choose to forgo the extra funds will not be allowed to change their minds that year.
”It is not only that we live here in an aquarium, but there are people out there who have nothing to eat,” said MK Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin of the Zionist Camp faction.
Thirty-three MKs voted in favor of the bill in its second reading, and none opposed. Thirty-one lawmakers supported the bill in its third and final reading, with none opposed.
