Top IDF officials visit “Iron Dome” anti-rocket battery that is undergoing an operational trial in the Be’er Sheba region of southern Israel
The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, visited on Monday (Mar. 28) the “Iron Dome” anti-rocket battery that was deployed a day earlier in the Be’er Sheba region of southern Israel.
Lt. Gen. Gantz was accompanied by Israeli Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Ido Nechushtan, Southern Command commander, Maj. Gen. Tal Russo, and Aerial Defense Network Commander, Brig. Gen. Doron Gavish.
During their visit, the top IDF officials were told about the activities of the battery, which is currently undergoing an operational trial. They viewed weaponry, were briefed on the deployment and also got a bird’s-eye view of the battery from above in a helicopter.
The top IDF officials also talked with the officers and soldiers of the unit that operates the battery.
“They emphasized the importance of the mission and expressed their appreciation to us”, says Maj. Nir Talias, the deputy commander of the unit. “Our motivation is high. We feel the weight of responsibility given the importance of the mission but we have complete faith in the ability of the people and the weapons to fulfill the mission in the best way possible”.
